2019 Workshops 

           Maine Prairie Studio is offering two workshops this summer. Each will be 2 days long with an option for 1 or 2 day commitments. The first workshop, Imagery on Clay, is June 29th-30. It will be taught by ceramic artist Megan Jorgenson and will focus on imagery on clay. The second workshop, Working with Native Clays, will be August 10-11. It will be taught by ceramic artist JD Jorgenson and will focus on working with native clays.

Workshops run from 9am - 4pm. The cost of the workshop includes clay, firings and lunch. Camping on our property is welcomed. Camping is BYOT (bring your own tent) or we do have our camper that can accommodate 1-4 people. It is first come first serve at $40/night. Imagery on Clay

June 29 - 30

This workshop will focus on a variety of methods for incorporating imagery and surface design into ceramic pieces. Saturday will focus on direct drawing methods, including inlay, sgraffito and stamping. Sunday is an introduction to using printmaking processes and transfer methods on clay, including screen printing and block printing. Taught by Megan Jorgenson.

Working with Native Clays

August 10 - 11

This workshop provides students with an introduction to locating, processing and using native clays. We will work on methods for testing local clays, throwing, hand building and slip casting with the clay, using the clays for slips and glazes. Taking a field trip(s) TBD. Taught by JD Jorgenson.
